So first Avoir (to have). J”ai Tu as Il/Elle/On a Nous avons Vous avez Ils ont
|
In English future actions can be expressed in 2 ways:
I am going to.........
I will..........
The same applies to French.
I am going to......... becomes je vais.
This makes sense as in french the present tense of any
verb means either
I........ or I am ........ing
Example Je mange means I eat or I am eating.
So Je vais means I go or I am going, and is used
followed by an infinitive to express " I am going to..."
Let's go through the verb ALLER (to go)
Je vais I am going
Tu vas You are going
Il va He is going
Elle va She is going
On va We are going
Ca va It is going
Nous allons We are going
Vous allez You are going
Ils vont They are going
Then you want to add ......to eat or whatever
it is one is going to do.
For the French, you just need to add the
infinitive (dictionnary form). The "to" is included.
So you get, for example
Je vais marcher
Tu vas regarder
Il va etre
Elle va avoir
On va aller
Ca va finir
Nous allons sortir
Vous allez perdre
Ils vont peindre
It's very easy, they are no exceptions, you just
need to know the verb "Aller" and add the
dictionary form of the verb.
To express "I will" etc, one uses the future form.
In french the last syllable of the future form
always begins with "R", whether regular or
irregular.
To the root of the verb one adds the verb
"avoir", except that for "nous" and "vous" one
adds only "ons" "ez" instead of "avons" "avez"
First conjugation: Parler (to speak)
The infinitive forms the root
Second conjugation: Choisir (to choose)
The infinitive forms the root
Third conjugation: Rendre (to give back)
The infinitive without the final "e" forms the root
